Frequently asked questions

  • Do I really need a sending organization?

    Great question! If you’re going overseas with a job, can’t you just go out on your own? Sometimes, yes, and some certainly choose to go this route. However, serving cross-culturally can be quite challenging, and you may find it difficult to be successful and healthy on the field without the support of a sending organization behind you. It’s also important to consider where and how you’ll be working. Some placements may require a sending organization, and some arrangements may not be financially sustainable (especially for families) without supplemental support. We’d be happy to discuss this more with you, answer any questions you may have, and help you discern whether you’d benefit from a sending organization.

  • What does your member care look like?

    Our staff includes member care specialists who offer specialized care to individuals, couples, and families, as well as a coordinator for Third Culture Kids (TCKs) and a team of area coordinators. These staff members walk with you from recruitment to retirement, functioning as coaches, mentors, prayer partners, and advocates. Our team also provides specialized referrals to trusted counselors, therapists, spiritual directors, debrief/retreat centers, and more. Finally, we take time to get to know your sending church and equip them with tools to collaborate with us in caring for you.

  • What are your teams like?

    Naturally, each of our teams is unique, so we can share more details when you’re working to finalize your placement. However, all of our teams are similar in that they are made up of members from different cultural and denominational backgrounds who share the same vision, mission, approach, and values. This allows our workers to find fellowship and camaraderie in a diverse community with a shared ethos.
