A Rocha Lebanon was founded in 1996 with an initial focus to save the Aammiq marshes from destruction. The Aammiq Wetland is Lebanons most significant remaining natural freshwater site one of all too few in the Middle East. This major stop-over site for migrating birds was under severe threat. Due to the work of A Rocha the reduction of its habitats has been reversed and it is now a designated Ramsar site. Beyond Aammiq A Rocha has gained valuable experience in working throughout the country on behalf of government departments nature reserves and international conservation bodies. This included scientific research practical conservation and environmental education.

A Rocha Lebanon is looking for a National Director for ARL. Within the National Director position are two roles which could be split between two people if two people are found.The first role is Project Manager for two reforestation and environmental education projects in the Bekaa Valley. The project manager will develop the reforestation projects further including planning design execution monitoring developing relationships with project beneficiaries and managing staff members. The second role is Engagement Officer who will lead the development of positive relationships with other NGOs schools Bible Colleges churches municipalities and possible funders. – Management teaching communication and relationship skills required.- Qualification and experience in environmental science would be very helpful.- Should be prepared to learn Arabic which will likely require a year of full-time study.- Will need to carry a vision for developing the organisation and be resilient in the face of setbacks and an ever-changing political environment.- It is preferred that the person will live near the project in a small town in the Bekaa Valley.
