Long-term Opportunities

Term of Service

InterServe considers Long-term service to be two years or more. Most Long-term placements are three years on the field with a four to six-month home assignment (furlough). In some of the more difficult countries placements may be two years with a two to four-month home assignment.

Salary & Support

The majority of InterServe’s placements do not offer a salary, therefore full support must be raised, which would include one-time or outgoing expenses (i.e. airfare, visas, housing set-up costs, etc.) as well as ongoing monthly support. There are a few situations where workers are paid a small salary or stipend, but in most of these cases it is not enough to cover all expenses, so some support would still need to be raised.

Application Processing

InterServe is not able to place teams of workers due to the sensitivity of the countries we serve in, therefore we must keep a low profile by strategically placing individuals or families. Keeping our list of opportunities updated, as well as handling the placement process, is mainly the responsibility of our international office. They make the arrangements with the placement or non-government organization (NGO) in the country and give our US office the details and requirements of the position, which we pass on to the applicant.
