Long-term Opportunities

Path to Long-term Service

All those who apply to Interserve and desire to serve overseas should complete the items in the following list. The only exception will be waiving of the requirement for pre-field training for those who have lived overseas for two years as an adult in a cross-cultural setting. The process begins with an application submittal and is completed when the Applicant becomes a Partner. The stages in the process are:

  • Applicant:   application is received by the US office
  • Candidate:  application has been approved by the US office and Board of Trustees, and the Personnel Director sends the applicant an invitation to Candidate School
  • Appointee:  candidate successfully completes Candidate School resulting in being invited to become an appointee and accepting that invitation
  • Partner:   100% of budgeted support is raised (prayer and financial), an appropriate placement is agreed upon by the partner and the International Office of Interserve, attendance of pre-field orientation is completed (if required), final plans are put in motion for departure

Long-term Application Process

  1. If you would like more information before applying and paying the application fee:
    • Print and fill out only the Preliminary Application Form. You can download the form either as a PDF file you can print, fill out, and mail back to us, or you can download a Microsoft Word form which you can fill out electronically and email back to us. Fill out one for each adult, and return it/them to the Career Track Coordinator (CTC) at the address below. Please also send your secular CV (resume) by e-mail to the CTC at ctc@ludlow.net. Also e-mail your Christian experience and/or Christian education in a separate document.
    • The CTC will fill out the inquiry form on Interserve’s administrative website and submit it to the field leadership, along with the e-mail version of your CV. • As in #1, the CTC will submit the Prelim and your CV to the field leadership as described above, but she will also begin processing your application by sending forms to your references. As soon as she hears about opportunities from the field leadership she will inform you so that you will be aware of these while your application is being processed.
  3. Have a personal interview either with the Personnel Director (PD) or the Career Track Coordinator at the Interserve USA office or with an Interserve USA representative in your area.
